A young woman from the U.K. has a rare and mysterious condition that causes her stomach to bloat to the size of a pregnant woman every time she eats, The Daily Mail reported.
Kerri Dowdswell, 23, of Cannock, Staffordshire, usually wears a size 10 jeans except for when she eats a meal. Thats when her stomach becomes so bloated, people assume she is several months pregnant.
A few hours later, Dowdswells stomach shrinks back to its normal size until she eats again.
Dowdswell said she must wear maternity pants while eating.
Doctors dont have a name or cause for her condition, but Dowdswell refers to it as her food babies. She said the problem began when she went through puberty.
Doctors have tested Dowdswell for food allergies, irritable bowel syndrome and Celiac disease, but the tests came back negative. She has tried to stop eating certain types of foods to see if the problem would go away, but nothing worked.
I watch what I eat, and exercise regulary, so Im mortified when I end up looking like Im about to pop, Dowdswell said. Ive been asked several times when Im due to give birth, and I usually have to explain that my baby is a roast dinner.
